What is a Critical Article?

A critical article is an article that looks at the work critically. It is an ysis of the genre or author. It tells what is important, what you should know, the historical significance and the contribution to knowledge. It could include both positive and negative aspects. What differentiates a critique from a simple reference is the depth of ysis. For example, if you were finding an article on Mark Twain it wouldn't be just about when he was born and died and the names of the works he wrote, but it would also discuss how he provided social commentary through his work, his relationship to the issue of slavery as well as both positive and negative comments made about his work.
