That is interesting. An act of God like that could be a coincidence but also it could be God is finally expressing his distaste of being commercialized. God hates commercialization, monetary projects etc. That statue was probably a graven image-a sacrilegious monument and I would not be surprised if people prayed to it. The people who made it probably begged for money for its construction. I never was one to think God took action on earth except in very rare situations but maybe he does. That statue would be very offensive to him and would distract people from the spiritual aspects of Christianity.
