When the supply of crude oil is no longer available from the planet, how will we survive ?

According to the oil companies and the scientists the worldwide resources of crude are dwindling fast and it is estimated that supplies will be nil within the next five years.Without oil every power source upon which humanity depends will not exist.Until then the price will increase proportionally to make it unaffordable. What will then happen ? For instance without fuel for vehicles from which the government relies upon the heavy taxation to finance the realm , where will they get the funds? Even today we motorists are being ripped off, One gallon of petrol in America costs �2.oo, here it costs �6.oo . Will the future chancellor raise it even more to pay off the nations debt?
