What are benefits of putting my home in an LLC?

I own a home with my uncle. I own 50% while he owns the other 50%. We plan on renting the property out. I am not sure of the benefits of putting the home in an LLC. Also, the home was previously in an LLC with my father, but he ped away. I was screwed from the tax reessment exemption because it was in a legal entity.
